While driving, fuel gauge goes to empty, displays 0 miles to empty, check engine light comes on, and screen displays "fuel sensor fail". After about a minute the gauge will go back to the correct level as will the miles to empty, but the check engine light will remain on. This happens any time the vehicle does not have a completely full gas tank, but is also sporadic and doesn't happen all of the time.

The gas gauge only works when the tanks is extremely full once the truck has been driven for five miles it goes the gauge reads empty and the check engine light comes on.
