The three way coolant valve failed. Car has about 59000 miles. I note a review of the internet reveals that this problem is very common and certainly should not happen in such low miles. The valve problem appears ongoing. In 2013 there was a recall for ram trucks for a similar issue. Clearly it has not been corrected. Systems can fail and windshield defrosters will not work creating an extreme hazard during driving.
